Saturday Market Tomorrow!

We’re so glad to be able to get back out and play music in public again. We have been busy playing mostly private events this year, but you can see us live at TD Saturday Market this Saturday from 8am-12pm on the corner of McBee and Main Street in downtown Greenville, SC. You can see our current schedule on our page “Where We’ll Be Next”. Hope to see you soon!

Charleston, here we come!

We hope to see some of our lowcountry friends in Charleston Feb. 15-16.  If you’re not from the lowcountry, you could make a weekend of it.  Everyone knows Charleston has plenty to offer, any time of year!

Amy, Lucy and Nancy have been practicing with Cindy Carpenter, and we will play fun dance tunes for the Charleston Folk Contradance on Friday night at the Charleston United Methodist Church, 1125 E. Montague Ave, N Charleston, SC.

Saturday will be a concert at Hungry Monk Music on Belgrade Ave, where we will mix it up with tunes and songs, including an a cappella tune or two.  We have some new material in various genres.  You may purchase tickets in advance here.

Happy 2019!

Happy 2019! The BattleAxes have been working behind the scenes this winter to
keep up our chops. And we have big news: We will be having an addition soon!
Banjo player Brooke is expecting a little girl, due in February!

We hope you’ll come see us in 2019! Here’s what we have so far:

January 12 – Spartanburg Contradance (This will be Brooke’s last gig for a little while.)

For February we have asked our friend Cindy Carpenter to sit in with us in Brooke’s
place. Cindy plays mighty fine banjo and guitar, and is a great singer as well.
You’ll find us in Charleston on February 15 and 16. We are looking forward to this
road trip!

February 15 – Charleston Folk Contra
February 16 – Concert at Hungry Monk Music

More dates for 2019 TBA. See you soon!

Free Music this Weekend: The Toasty Farmer

Hi Friends! We’ve been having a fun winter and hope you have. We’ve stayed busy with contra dances in Columbia, SC and Sautee Nacoochee, GA, a house concert and a performance at the Museum of Art in Greenville as well as a visit to Rolling Green Village, and a radio appearance at WPAQ in Mt. Airy, NC. We’ve met lots of new fans and really good kind-hearted people who are doing great things in their communities.

Speaking of great things happening in the community, we are going to be performing this Saturday, April 15 from 11-2 for the Toasty Farmer: A Winter Farmers Market located inside Brewery 85 in Greenville, SC. This is a good chance to pick up some veggies and various goodies while listening to some good music and letting the kiddos kick up their heels.

Taking a break by the Ocoee on the way to Nashville.

We had a wonderful 2016 full of travel and music! In November we went on a mini-tour throughout the Southeast. We kicked things off with a concert at Western Carolina University’s Mountain Heritage Center in Cullowhee, NC. After the concert we had a jam session with the folks who brought instruments along including professors, students and members of the local community. The next day we headed over to Nashville to play a contra dance, visit the instrument shops and meet up with friends and family. Then we headed down to Huntsville for one more dance and some great BBQ with friends. About a week later we headed over to WPAQ in Mount Airy, NC to play on the radio show at the Historic Earle Theater. We’ll be back on the show March 11th.

We’re looking forward to returning to the Greenville County Museum of Art in February for a concert. Come see us the first Sunday in February at 2pm for Music in the Galleries. Later that month we’ll be playing contra dances in Columbia, SC and Sautee Nacoochee, GA. Join us as we chase away the winter blues with love, music and contra!

We are happy to announce that we’ll be playing for the first time at MerleFest in April! 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of this roots based music festival in Wilkesboro, NC. There is a great lineup this year, so be sure to check it out here.

Thank you for your support this year! See you in 2017!
