July 4th Weekend Events

This Saturday we return to the Travelers Rest Farmer’s Market from 8:30-12:00. This is a really great farmer’s market, with all sorts of vendors. Besides the obvious delicious fresh veggies, we’ve brought home honey, pimento cheese, fresh baked bread, and roasted coffee beans to name a few. We’ll have CDs available and a few of our remaining coffee mugs.

Then Sunday we’ll be out at Cradle of Forestry in Pisgah Forest, NC to give a concert in the Songcatcher Music Series. There is a jam at 3:00. The stage show begins with warm-up music at 4:00 by Cindy Neal Carpenter and Emily Anderson Reasoner. The BattleAxe Band will start at 4:30. Concert-goers are welcome to arrive early and enjoy indoor and outdoor exhibits, two interpretive trails, and the Giving Tree gift shop. The café is open for lunch. The site, including the amphitheater, is wheelchair accessible.Admission for all shows is $6.00 for ages 16 and older; $3.00 for youth 15 and under and America the Beautiful and Golden Age pass holders. Friends of the Cradle annual passes are honored.  The Cradle of Forestry is located on Hwy. 276 in the Pisgah National Forest, six miles north of Looking Glass Falls and four miles south of the Blue Ridge Parkway. For more information call 828-877-3130 or go to www.cradleofforestry.com.

We hope you’ll join us for one of these two great events this weekend. Happy Independence Day!

Photo Submissions Needed for TEDx!

Baby Chevy

Hi Friends!

As you know we’ll be performing at TEDx on April 8th, and we just had a great idea! Wouldn’t it be great if we could get pictures of our canine friends, not to mention the Rovers, Spikes and Fifis of our friends and fans to share in a slide show while we perform Brooke’s song, “I’m Your Dog Blues”? Do you have a dog? Do you like taking photos of your dog looking cute, loyal, goofy, guilty, or happy-go-lucky? If so, please send your high-resolution dog photo to us by March 28. You can send it to us via our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TheBattleAxeBand/ or email it to us at battleaxeband@gmail.com . We can’t wait to see them!

2016 Performance Calendar Updated

Looks like we are in for a busy year!

2016 performance dates are up here: https://thebattleaxeband.com/where-well-be-next/

We’ll kick things off with our CD Release Party in Greenville, SC on March 6. It’s a drop-in with a jam afterwards, so join us for a tune or the whole time. It’s free, and there will be food, music of course, and some limited band swag like The BattleAxe Band mugs.

Also,  a few more events are in the works and we’ll get them on the calendar as soon as they are finalized.

If you are feeling adventurous this year (like we are) and want to try out contra dancing (it is SO much fun!) or going to a farmer’s market you’ve never been to or maybe a new event venue, come with us (we double-dog dare you)! See you soon!

First album released!

CD release

Our album “…because we ARE” is HERE! The CDs came in right before Christmas and we had a mailing party at Nancy’s house to get them addressed and out to all of our Kickstarter supporters. We are very pleased with how everything turned out. The album is available for purchase in both CD and digital download form at our webstore here: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/thebattleaxeband2 . We will be having a CD release party around March 2016. More details to follow. Thanks for supporting us!
