The Battleaxe Band is an all-female acoustic string band based out of Upstate South Carolina. Members include Amy Buckingham on fiddle and guitar, Lucy Allen on guitar, Brooke Lauer on banjo, and Nancy Hamilton on upright bass.  The band loves to play hard-driving Old-Time dance tunes like Big Scioty and North Carolina Breakdown, original songs, singer-songwriter songs from Gillian Welch and The Wailin’ Jennys, and even a traditional gospel number or two.  The Battleaxes, who have all been playing music for most of their lives, are best known for their powerful vocals and harmonies.
